Former MASLOC CEO Sedina Tamakloe Begins 10-Year Prison Sentence at Nsawam

Former Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu, is now serving her 10-year prison sentence at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison after undergoing medical treatment at the Police Hospital in Accra.

According to a report by investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni, published by the Pledge Against Corruption (PAC), Tamakloe-Attionu arrived in Ghana with a pre-existing medical condition that had been communicated to local authorities by U.S. officials before her extradition.

She was initially received by security authorities and admitted to the Police Hospital, where she underwent treatment before being declared medically fit to begin serving her sentence.

Prison Transfer Followed Medical Clearance

The report states that after completing treatment, she was transferred to the female section of the Nsawam Medium Security Prison to commence her custodial sentence.

Her detention has attracted public attention following claims by the Minority in Parliament that she was not immediately committed to prison after arriving in Ghana on June 9, 2026.

However, the PAC report maintains that she remained under the custody of prison authorities throughout the period and did not receive treatment at any private medical facility.

Appeal Still Pending

Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu was convicted in 2024 on charges including causing financial loss to the state and stealing, following allegations of misappropriating state funds during her tenure as MASLOC CEO.

She was extradited from the United States earlier this month to serve the 10-year sentence imposed by the Accra High Court.

Meanwhile, the High Court is expected to rule on July 30, 2026, on an appeal filed by her legal team challenging her conviction and sentencing in absentia.
